At Formfutura, we pride ourselves on developing sustainable, high-quality 3D printing materials. One of our standout products in this pursuit is ReForm Organic rPLA — an eco-friendly, performance-driven filament designed for those who seek exceptional results while minimizing their environmental impact. In this guide, we’ll explore everything you need to know about ReForm Organic rPLA, from its composition and benefits to its ideal applications and printing recommendations.
What is ReForm Organic rPLA?
ReForm Organic rPLA is part of our ReForm initiative, aimed at creating sustainable filaments by utilizing upcycled PLA materials from our production processes. This filament not only reduces plastic waste but also maintains the premium quality and performance expected from FormFutura products.
The "Organic" label is highlighting what makes this filament unique, as ReForm - Organic rPLA is 100% made from recycled PLA.
The results of this unique product is a filament with a natural, matte finish and a unique organic look and feel, perfect for environmentally conscious makers and designers.
Key Features of ReForm Organic rPLA
1. Sustainable Production
ReForm Organic - rPLA is produced using upcycled materials, minimizing waste and reducing the carbon footprint associated with traditional filament production.
To minimize the carbon footprint of ReForm Organic - rPLA, we decided a plastic or cardboard spool would not fit its mission. That is why we opted for our most sustainable option: ReFill.
2. Organic Aesthetic
The organic fillers made from the rest products of Blond Beer, Dark Ale, Hemp, and Linnen provide a distinct matte surface finish and natural texture, making it ideal for artistic and decorative projects.
3. Excellent Printability
Despite its eco-friendly formulation, ReForm Organic rPLA delivers smooth, reliable prints with high dimensional accuracy and minimal warping. Just like you are used to from FormFutura 3D printing filament!
4. Biodegradable Base
As an rPLA filament, its base material is derived from renewable resources and is industrially compostable under the right conditions.
Best Conditions for Composting Organic rPLA
- High Heat: Maintain a compost temperature of 55–70°C (131–158°F). Use an insulated bin to sustain heat.
- Moisture: Keep the pile moist, like a wrung-out sponge. Add water as needed.
- Aeration: Turn the compost regularly to ensure oxygen flow.
- Shredding: Cut the rPLA into smaller pieces to speed up decomposition.
- Balance: Mix with “greens” (food scraps) and “browns” (dry leaves) for effective microbial activity.
Why Choose ReForm Organic rPLA?
ReForm Organic rPLA aligns perfectly with the values of makers who care about the environment without compromising on quality or performance. Its unique blend of sustainability, printability, and aesthetics makes it a standout choice for eco-conscious creators worldwide.
By choosing ReForm Organic rPLA, you’re not just investing in a premium filament, you’re contributing to a more sustainable 3D printing future.
